We love Greg, the exterminator who’s been to our house a couple of times. He’s the best one we’ve had. He’s always friendly, does a great job, and explains everything well. We also love that they use environmentally safe practices to protect your pets. But the overall scheduling is terrible. We have used their 365 service for the past year and I’m not sure we’ve had anyone show up on time within the scheduled four-hour window more than once. Sometimes people haven’t shown up at all, nor did they call to explain what happened. I’m not sure if they’re just over scheduling or short-handed or what, but it needs improvement.

Cherry H. via google

So initially I called and made my appointment. The answering service gave me a day with the hours of 1pm to 5pm. Day of the appointment I called at 4:50pm and was told I was still scheduled. Well the technician no called and was a no show. The next day I called to say what the….. is going on. This answering service lady said she saw no appointment scheduled. She stated she would look into it. I go to work and the service calls back, even after saying to call after 3pm. Well they left no voicemail. I callback and now was informed that a appointment was scheduled without my consent. So I change this appointment time to one that suits me. Once my technician came he took proper Covid safety precautions. Greg, my technician, was super friendly, explained step by step of what he was doing and accomplished his task in a reasonable time frame. It is only because of Greg’s service I’m giving a 3 star vs a 1 star.

Mike S. via google

I had a mouse problem. They told me up front that they wouldn't be able to get rid of them entirely until I got some work done outside the house where they were coming in... And they showed me the problem areas. BUT... after about a month or so... And at least 7 mice caught in their traps... I no longer have a mice problem! I still have to make repairs to the outside of my home to make sure they don't come back with Winter... But for now, I'm Mouse Free!

Leo E. J. via google

Excellent on Flea removal in houses. A++

Kelly A. via google

With the weather getting colder rodents are seeking warmth. We found a small mouse in the garage. The service man checked the boxes and put down fresh bait. Always friendly and explains what he’s doing. We’re pleased with the service.

We have not had a very good experience with this organization. From the start they that didn't communicate with us about the cost or the contract its self. That being said they are trying to make things right now. From the beginning we have needed them to come more often. I have had to call them out before the normal appointment time. I think that they are finally getting the ideal that we need them more but we'll see what happens next.

Holly N. via google

The Orkin representative was very thorough, respectful of my property and time. I appreciate the heads up before coming to narrow the window to the exact time when he planned to arrive.

Anna C. via google

Norm was very nice and professional and was very thorough. He explained everything clearly and gave us a detailed explanation of the cause of out pest problem and how he was going to fix it. I tried another company and they didn't do anything that I could've done myself. Orkin made me feel like they actually did something to free my home of our mice problem.

Bklynmyke via google

Excellent and polite technicians. It has definitely helped to keep the bugs out of the house. Before we bought our house it sat vacant for a while so the sac spiders moved in. We saw so many throughout the first year and couldn't take it anymore. The first one I saw crawing on my bed I knew we needed help to eliminate them. The dust they put along the ceiling helped a ton to get them under control. We see them occasionally at spring and fall but not nearly as many as that first year.

Leslie B. via google

Truthfully, we will probably never not have Orkin. Brian is hands down the best! Always on time, always very professional and helpful, always respectful in regards to the elements and helping to keep our floors clean. Very happy with our service and hope to always have Brian as our technician.

The customer service from Hawx has always been exceptional. The service technicians are knowledgeable and professional. Connors Trader went the extra mile to make sure he listened to our needs regarding the ant problem we had. He did a wonderful job on our property.

Jordan has provided the most complete service since I’ve been a client. He even sprayed on my deck, which no one else has done. If these are new directions to the techs, hooray. If not, he did the best service. Thanks for putting him on my route.

Sue B.via Google

I would like to thank Jeff for doing a great job today. In fact, I would like to request him in the future. Y’all were supposed to provide service a couple of weeks ago, and your guy showed up without the equipment to service the inside of my house. To be honest, I almost called you to cancel my service then. Instead I rescheduled. Today Jeff did exactly what I signed up for, but too often you don’t provide. He sprayed indoors and out, swept my eaves for spider webs and took care of a couple of wasp nests. He did a great job. Thank you very much.

Rick T.via Google

Very polite and wearing a mask (I appreciate that). Introduced himself and asked if any particular place was heavy with mosquitoes, I told him I work in my garage with the door open and he made sure to get that side of the house thoroughly.

Steven W.via Google

Montana was pleasant and most helpful in taking care of the service requested. We are happy and pleased with great service and the professional assistance given. SHB

Pest Control Services in Portage, Indiana: What Homeowners Need to Know

For many homeowners in Portage, Indiana, the battle against pests is a year-round challenge. Whether it's ants marching through your kitchen or mice seeking shelter from the cold, pests can be more than a nuisance; they can pose genuine threats to your property and health. Understanding the costs and coverage of pest control services is essential for keeping your home safe and comfortable. Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of pest management pricing and what services you can expect to receive in your quest for a pest-free home.

Comprehensive Pest Control Costs

Pest control services in Portage, Indiana, are priced based on various factors such as the size of the home, the level of infestation, and the type of treatment required. Homeowners can generally expect to pay a starting price for an initial service, which may range from $99 to $399. This initial visit often includes a thorough inspection and a first round of treatment. Following this, recurring services are typically spread out over the year, with costs ranging from $40 to $100 per month for standard plans. Specialized treatments for pests like termites or bed bugs might carry additional costs due to the more complex methods required to address these infestations. For those looking for bundled services, companies often offer discounts when combining multiple pest management solutions.

What's Included in Pest Control Plans

Protecting Your Home from Unwanted Guests

Most pest control plans offer protection against a variety of common household pests. Service agreements usually cover ants, spiders, roaches, rodents, and other critters that tend to invade homes. It's important to note that while these plans are comprehensive, they may not include all pests. For example, termites, bed bugs, and certain types of wildlife may require separate specialized treatment plans. When selecting a pest control service, be sure to understand which pests are included and which might require additional attention.

Understanding Service Agreements

Binding Promises for a Pest-Free Home

When choosing a pest control provider, homeowners should be aware of the service agreements involved. Most companies require a contract, typically spanning one year, but some may offer month-to-month options. These agreements authorize the company to perform regular inspections and treatments, and some may come with a satisfaction guarantee or offer refunds if the service does not meet expectations. Cancellation policies can vary, with some services allowing you to cancel at any time without penalty, while others may charge a cancellation fee.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

Assurance of Effective Pest Management

Many pest control companies in Portage offer guarantees to assure homeowners of the effectiveness of their services. If pests return between regularly scheduled treatments, most companies will return to address the issue at no extra cost, emphasizing their commitment to keeping your home pest-free. This peace of mind is a crucial part of the service and ensures that you can rely on your provider to respond promptly to any emerging pest problems.

Treatment Day: What to Expect

A Closer Look at Pest Control Visits

On treatment day, professionals will typically perform an inspection to identify problem areas and apply treatments to targeted spots inside and outside your home. This may include sealing gaps, laying traps, and using approved pesticides. The approach is strategic and aims to disrupt pests' life cycles, thus preventing re-infestation. Homeowners might need to prepare the area by moving furniture or cleaning beforehand, and follow-ups are scheduled to maintain the barrier against pests.

Maximizing Value with Add-Ons

Expanding Protection Through Additional Services

For those looking to maximize their pest control plan, considering bundling services or adding on specific treatments can provide broader coverage and often result in cost savings. For instance, termite inspections and mosquito treatments are popular add-ons that can be included for a more comprehensive approach to pest management. Discussing these options with your service provider can help tailor the plan to your home’s specific needs.

Specialty Pest Treatments

Dealing with the Extraordinary

Certain pests require specialized attention, and it’s often these critters that cause the most headache for homeowners. Termites, bed bugs, and wildlife fall into this category and typically aren’t covered under standard pest control plans. If you're facing issues with these more challenging adversaries, it's important to seek out specialized treatment plans that are designed to tackle these specific problems effectively.

Single vs. Recurring Services

Choosing the Right Frequency for Your Home

Deciding between a one-time treatment or a recurring service plan depends on the nature of your pest problem. Single treatments can be a good option for dealing with immediate issues, but they may lack the ongoing prevention that comes with a recurring plan. On the other hand, regular service plans offer continuous protection and often include preventative measures to keep pests from becoming a concern in the first place. Weighing the long-term benefits against the initial costs can help you decide which option is best for your home.
